Palazzo de Ferrera, Alghero

Palazzo de Ferrera, Alghero

Palazzo De Ferrera is located in Piazza Civica, the historic center of Alghero. The palace was built in the 15th century in the Gothic style by a wealthy family of merchants. It was named after Pedro de Ferrera. During a battle in 1541, Emperor Carlos V lived here. The facade of the building is made of perfectly square blocks, laid horizontally. The palace has three floors, and the main entrance leads into a foyer with a grand staircase. On the second floor there are four arches carved from a single block of stone and supported by columns.
