Playa Varese (Varese Beach), Mar del Plata

Varese Beach is one of the most frequented beach resorts in Mar del Plata. This beach sits in a curved, artificial bay created by two long stone breakwaters between Torreón del Monje and Cabo Corrientes.

The beach has a long history, with its first mentions dating back to 1890 when it was known as Englishmen's Beach. Back then, it was a popular spot for the upper-class tourists from Buenos Aires. The Varese family, who owned the Centenario Hotel overlooking the beach, eventually gave their name to the beach after the original buildings were demolished in the late 1970s.

Over the years, the beach has undergone significant changes, including the construction of breakwaters and sand recovery efforts in the 1980s and 1999. Today, Varese Beach is a hub of activity, especially during the summer, with various events, games, and bars attracting both locals and tourists. It’s also a central location for the radio station Los 40 Principales Argentina during the peak season. Whether you’re into water sports or just looking to relax on the sand, Varese Beach offers a bit of everything.
