Porta San Donato, Lucca

The Porta San Donato is a gateway of the walls of Lucca located on the west side of Lucca. It was established between 1629 and 1639 as part of the Renaissance walls. It was originally equipped with a drawbridge. The entrance is adorned with marble statues of San Donato and San Paolino. Porta San Donato is the replacement of the ancient Porta San Donato which was established in 1590, and is still present within the walls of Lucca in Piazzale Verdi.
