Royal Automobile Museum, Amman

Royal Automobile Museum, Amman

Nestled beside Al Hussein Public Parks, the Royal Automobile Museum was established in 2003 at the behest of King Abdullah II. It features a remarkable collection of vehicles that trace Jordan’s automotive history. These range from Hussein bin Ali's cars, which arrived in Amman in 1916, to sleek modern sports cars. Notably, the museum houses the rover featured in the Hollywood film "The Martian." This movie was filmed in Wadi Rum, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Jordan. The rover was gifted to the Kingdom as a token of appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to the film's cast and crew.

The museum serves as a tribute to the late King Hussein. It showcases a piece of Jordan’s history through 80 of the late King's cars and motorcycles, some dating back as far as 1909. Each vehicle, preserved in immaculate condition, tells a unique story from the late King's 47-year reign. Together, they chart the history of the Kingdom, spanning from the era of His Majesty King Abdullah I in the early 1920s to the present day under His Majesty King Abdullah II.
