St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Wichita

St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Wichita

The Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church was established between 1902 and 1905. The original building was constructed in 1886 and was named the Saint Boniface Parish. The church is considered the most unique building in Wichita, as far as the exterior and interior go. It features a mixture of Georgian style, characteristic of the East Coast, and some elements of Baroque (note the dome), yet the shape clearly suggests a Neo-Gothic structure. The windows are made of stained glass and the technique that was used is very old - this is why they cannot be changed. During the early years, the church was used as a pointer for local aviators.
