Stewart Galleries, Palm Springs
Nestled in the heart of Palm Springs’ historic La Plaza District, Stewart Galleries is a beloved local landmark and a premier destination for art collectors, interior designers, and discerning decorators. Established in 1986 by Kevin and Diane Stewart in San Diego, the gallery later relocated to Palm Springs, where it flourished under new ownership beginning in 2001.
George Resner (1956–2011) and Phil Kieffer-veterans of the antique and fine art scene in Lambertville, New Jersey-purchased the gallery and expanded it into an impressive 8,000 square foot space. Their earlier ventures, Hunt Club Antiques, and Hunt Club Classics, were situated just across the river from New Hope, Pennsylvania, in the storied Bucks County region.
Today, Stewart Galleries stands out as a vibrant hub for the Coachella Valley’s art and design community. Frequently featured in design magazines and lifestyle media, the gallery is known for its dynamic exhibitions and carefully curated collections. Inside, visitors can explore a rich array of oil paintings-both historic and contemporary-sculptures, bronzes, chandeliers, antique furnishings, and rare decorative accessories.
Specializing in works by Californian and American Impressionist, Modernist, and Plein Air painters, as well as sculptures by European and South American artists, Stewart Galleries offers something for both the seasoned collector and the curious art lover. With ongoing acquisitions and buying trips, the gallery keeps its inventory fresh, inspiring, and always in tune with evolving tastes.
Whether you’re looking to discover a future heirloom or simply appreciate fine art in a beautiful setting, Stewart Galleries remains a cornerstone of Palm Springs’ artistic landscape.
