TEW Galleries, Atlanta

TEW Galleries, an oasis of contemporary art, was established in 1987 by Timothy Tew, a true art connoisseur. His passion for art was ignited during a high school French class, which subsequently led to his fascination with France and the art world. His artistic journey began by immersing himself in the study of Interior Decoration and Design at the Art Institute of Atlanta. He went on to work in the home furnishings industry, and then followed his dream of living in France to pursue a career that combined his love for art, design and French culture. During his sojourn, he honed his eye for artistic talent, refined his French, studied drawing and art history, and established lifelong relationships with several artists.

Upon returning to Atlanta in 1987, Timothy started promoting the artists he met, often selling their work from the trunk of his car, and putting on exhibitions wherever he found opportunities. In 1989, he opened his first exhibition space as Galerie Timothy Tew at the TULA Art Center, adding exceptional artists from the United States, England and Germany, many of whom are still represented by the gallery today. In 2005, the gallery moved to a stunningly beautiful three-story townhome in The Galleries of Peachtree Hills and changed its name to TEW Galleries.

TEW Galleries is renowned for showcasing national and international painters, artists, and sculptors who work in an expansive range of styles, from abstract to figurative. The gallery's reputation is founded on the exceptional quality of its exhibitions and the knowledgeable guidance of its staff, who are experts in art and always ready to help collectors select works that express their visual passions. Come and immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art at TEW Galleries, where every piece tells a unique story.

Atlanta Downtown Walk

Atlanta Downtown Walk

Atlanta began as a practical idea rather than a grand vision. In the 1830s, Georgia planners selected a forested ridge as the southern endpoint of a new railroad linking the state to the Midwest. The settlement that emerged was first called Terminus. The name Atlanta appeared in the 1840s, likely derived from Atlantica-Pacifica, a poetic nod to the railroad’s ambition to connect the Atlantic...  view more
