The Collingwood Arts Center, Toledo

The Collingwood Arts Center is a majestic landmark erected in 1905 as a convent for the Ursuline Order and later home to Mary Manse College and Saint Ursula Academy. This Flemish-Gothic edifice was designed by Edward Oscar Fallis preserving layers of Toledo’s past.

The CAC offers more than 80 working studios for visual artists, musicians, writers, and dancers, alongside over 50 residential units that cradle emerging talents in an immersive, communal setting. Its centerpiece is the Lois M. Nelson Theatre-a 600-seat auditorium beneath a luminous stained-glass dome-renowned for its superb acoustics and intimate ambiance. The calendar year brings an eclectic mix: theatrical productions, concerts, workshops for all ages, kid-friendly art nights, community events, and even seasonal ghost-hunt tours.

Visitors drawn to architecture, heritage, or the arts will find the Collingwood Arts Center rich with discovery-wander the grand halls, marvel at the Gerber House parlours with their soaring ceilings and oak details, or drop into a studio open house to glimpse creative process in person .
