The Prince Edward Island Regiment Museum, Charlottetown
The Prince Edward Island Regiment Museum was established in 1989 as a dedicated space for preserving and showcasing the military legacy of Prince Edward Island’s militia and armoured reconnaissance regiment. This museum serves as a living memory, housing artifacts and photographs that span over a century of service and sacrifice.
Inside, visitors will encounter a compelling collection of over 2,000 to 4,000 artifacts-some dating as early as 1807-including uniforms, personal memorabilia, weapons, and photographs. Among the displays are Boer War-era items, such as preserved biscuits dating back over 100 years.
The museum’s exhibits show the roles of Islanders in conflicts ranging from the War of 1812 and the South African War to both World Wars and beyond. Interpretative displays delve deeper into local military stories, such as the notable involvement of Prince Edward Island soldiers with elite units like the Devil’s Brigade during the Second World War.
