Tin Marín - Museo de los Niños (Children's Museum), San Salvador

Opened in 1999, the Tin Marín Children's Museum was established to fill a vital need: providing Salvadoran children with a dynamic space for cultural enrichment, education, and recreation through hands-on activities and creative exploration. It was founded by a diverse group of professionals who embraced the philosophy of "learning through play" .

Tin museum spans houses 32 permanent interactive exhibits thoughtfully designed around five educational themes: science and technology, art and culture, health and prevention, communication and expression, and environmental awareness. From a simulated grocery store and the “Tin Marín Hospital” to a gravity-defying “House of Gravity,” a butterfly atrium, and even a real airplane cabin reconstructed inside.

Beyond its interactive displays, Tin Marín stands out as a social innovator. In 2012, it became the first museum in the region to launch an exhibition addressing child sexual abuse prevention, reflecting its commitment to the real challenges children face. The museum also champions inclusivity, offering universal accessibility and programs, which brings interactive exhibits to underserved communities.
