Treasures of the Earth, Fort William

The Treasures of the Earth houses one of Europe's largest private collections of crystals and gemstones alongside a remarkable assortment of marine fossils. Nestled within a copper-roofed museum, the experience begins with a glimpse of former mine workings, complete with a short section of narrow-gauged railway line and mine tubs, inviting visitors to delve into the earth's treasures.

Within the museum's confines, a plethora of crystals, gemstones, and geodes are showcased. Illuminated glass cases and simulated caverns provide a backdrop for these wonders, with some geodes reaching up to 2 meters in length. Lighting plays a crucial role in accentuating the beauty of these specimens, including displays under ultraviolet light. Interpretation boards offer insights into various topics, such as the Scottish gold rush and a captivating spiral of time exhibit.

Towards the museum's end, a striking Jurassic-themed mural sets the stage for a diverse array of fossils.
