I spent over three weeks in Guatemala in 2022. I decided to pick only a couple of places to explore more in depth, and one of these was Antigua. Guatemala’s former capital city is a beautiful place to discover the country’s culture and history. I immediately fell in love with the colorful colonial architecture and the glimpses of volcanoes all around.

The center of Antigua Guatemala is a perfect grid of streets lined with brightly colored buildings and charming squares. You can easily walk everywhere and, despite being seemingly small, the city offers a lot of things to do. One of my favorite things was exploring the old ruins of former temples. churches, and monasteries. So this post is all dedicated to these vestiges of Antigua Guatemala’s past.
