Vegan Travel Tips for Ljubljana, Slovenia, Ljubljana, Slovenia
What is Ljubljana like for vegans? Follow this guide to find some great places to eat. I’m not sure if the city is known for culinary excellence, but it should be - they seem to know how to make and serve great food. There’s a small selection of vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in Ljubljana. Since the city is quite small and you’re not likely to spend a long time there as a visitor, these should be enough for a few days in the city.
I really enjoyed the meal at Taman. It’s a vegetarian (mostly vegan) organic restaurant just a couple of minutes from the main square. It’s not too big, but the space is beautifully designed and really quite elegant.
There’s no English menu. The waiter will tell you what’s on offer today. Food comes in generous portions here, so go there when you’re hungry. I had a soup and a root-vegetable main from the daily menu, which came with a side salad.
There are also larger salads on the menu and vegan cakes for dessert which I didn’t try. If I were to visit Ljubljana just for a day, I’d pick this place for a meal.
The menu includes soup, salad from the salad bar, a main dish and dessert. Some raw options are available, and the salad bar is mostly (maybe entirely) raw. ...... (follow the instructions below for accessing the rest of this article).

Insider Tips for Ljubljana, Slovenia
Top Things to Do In and Around Ljubljana
Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital with a population of 270,000, seems smaller than its actual size. Its central walking zone is compact and nearby the Ljubljanica River that bisects the city. Many bridges cross the river while cafes line its banks.
Take a Day Trip to Lake Bled and Ljubljana, Slovenia
What a dream of a day trip. I saw photos of Lake Bled once upon a time when a friend took a whirlwind trip through the Balkans and posted her snaps on Instagram. Our travel styles couldn’t be more different—I would feel dizzy if I attempted her pace—but I most definitely filed spots away that I wanted to see from her trip, and Lake Bled topped the list.

Best Brunch in Ljubljana: Local Favorites for Eggs, Pancakes
Dear travelers, I’ve lived in Ljubljana long enough to develop a very specific personality trait: judging a place by its poached eggs. I wish I were joking. If you ask me where to have brunch in Ljubljana, I won’t just give you a list. I’ll immediately start talking about hollandaise sauce, sourdough bread, shakshuka, pancakes, and whether a café understands that brunch is not simply... view more
Ljubljana, Slovenia: The Place I Wanted to Go To
Growing up, we acquired a book for the house shelves only I rummaged through titled 100 Great Cities of the World. This is where I first heard about Ljubljana and all I could think about was how I had to go there one day. I couldn’t quite remember why in my early teenage years those two pages in the book made such an impression on me. I recall reading there was a renowned University there and... view more
Best Ice Cream in Ljubljana: Places You Need to Try This Sum
There are two types of people during summer in Ljubljana. The first ones stop for ice cream because it’s hot. The second ones (me) somehow end up planning their walks around where they can get the next scoop. The best part? Ljubljana is small enough that you can turn an ordinary afternoon into your own little gelato tour. Walk through the old town, stop by the river, admire the colorful... view more
