This is also the place where you can see the Seahorse Statue, the official mascot of Miri. The seahorse was chosen because it represents the city’s coastal identity and its gentle, graceful “Mirian” hospitality.

Historically, this river served as a vital transport route for the local Malay and Melanau communities long before roads were paved in northern Sarawak.
