Things to Do in Krakow in Winter, Krakow, Poland
With so much to see and do in Krakow in the winter, Jonathan and I fell very quickly in love with this city. It was one of those cities that, if it had a better climate and was closer to the ocean, we would have moved there in a heartbeat.
The city of Krakow offers beautiful architecture, incredible food, and fun to explore - everything we love. But, although we won’t be moving there or anywhere else any time soon, we both very much look forward to visiting other regions in Poland.
Head to the Old Town Main Square and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the historic city centre. The Old Town of Krakow is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with cobbled streets, fairytale architecture, fun bars, and pretty cafes.
The Old Town Main Square is one of Europe’s largest medieval market squares and the perfect place to wander and people-watch the day away.
We visited Krakow in December. I had always wanted to visit Poland’s renowned Christmas markets and sip mulled wine. We had given ourselves a whole week to explore Krakow, and during the week, it was fabulous to roam the stalls and sample the local foods. Outstanding Museums in Krakow
Krakow has so many good museums! Every exhibition I saw in Krakow seriously impressed me with its high standards. I knew little about the city and about Polish culture before visiting, but Krakow’s museums make the learning experience fascinating.
Krakow Street Food
After I travel a while, I get tired of eating every meal at a restaurant, particularly in Europe where the service is slow. I recognize it is slow to allow diners to enjoy their meal, but when I am on my own, sitting around is not my first choice.
Krakow's Jewish Quarter
Today I joined the tour for Krakow’s Jewish Quarter. The English-speaking tour met at in front of St. Mary’s Basilica in Old Town at 2:30pm. Given it was winter time and dark very early, the tour was two hours rather than the advertised two and half hours. That was fine with me.

Intriguing Street Art in Krakow, Poland
Looking for street art was high on my list of things to do in Krakow, and I found some excellent art. Krakow has very impressive murals, as well as some political and thought-provoking artworks on its walls.

I remember learning in high school all about Kraków (Cracow in English), the history, its importance, its kings and dragon stories. It all seemed a fairy tale, a very real tale.
