Acquario di Livorno (Livorno Aquarium), Livorno (must see)

The Livorno Aquarium, or Acquario di Livorno, is an aquarium located in the Mascagni Terrace. Exhibits within the aquarium show animals around the world. Patrons can access a panoramic terrace where they can see the sea creatures from above. For a more up close and personal experience, there is a touch pool on the ground floor.

The aquarium features such aquatic species as the zebra shark, green turtle, Napoleon fish, clownfish, moon jellyfish and many more. The aquarium is also home to amphibians, reptiles and insects. Patrons will see chameleons, iguanas, leafcutting ants and even dart frogs.

One of the most spectacular features of the Livorno Aquarium is the Greek-Roman archaeological area. This tank contains a reproduction of a Roman shipwreck. Visitors will watch the authentic reproduction of a shipwreck with creatures from the Mediterranean Sea swimming in and around the ship. Species include great sea bass, rockfish and snappers.

The aquarium is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.
