Alaska Heritage Museum at Wells Fargo, Anchorage (must see)

Located at Wells Fargo in the midtown area of Anchorage, Alaska Heritage Library and Museum is one the the largest private collections of Alaskan handcrafted antiques and artwork. The museum had opened its doors for visitors for the first time in 1968 with the help of the National Bank of Alaska. Since then it has gathered an astonishing collection that features a real, full-size Bering Sea kayak, traditional Native Alaskan clothing and everyday items, a 46-troy-ounce gold nugget, amazing paintings and whale carvings. The library features a fascinating archive of rare and old books. The museum is open from Monday to Friday and there is no admission fee.
