Alaskan Brewing Co. Depot, Juneau

Alaskan Brewing Co. Depot, Juneau

The Alaskan Brewing Co. Depot in downtown Juneau introduces visitors to one of Alaska’s best-known craft breweries. Founded in 1986 by Marcy and Geoff Larson, the brewery was the first to open in Juneau after Prohibition and became one of the early independent craft breweries in the United States. Located on Franklin Street near the waterfront, the Depot serves as a tasting room, retail space, and introduction to the brewery’s history and products.

Visitors aged 21 and older can sample a selection of Alaskan Brewing’s beers, along with seltzers, canned cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition to the brewery’s flagship beers, the Depot offers limited-release creations, including Rough Drafts and Barrel-Aged Series selections that are produced in smaller quantities. The tasting room provides an opportunity to try beers that reflect the brewery’s long connection with Juneau and the flavors of Southeast Alaska.

The Depot also includes the official Alaskan Brewing Co. merchandise shop, offering clothing, glassware, and other brewery-related items. During the summer season, visitors can take a complimentary shuttle from the Depot to the main brewery and Tasting Room, located about 15 minutes away, where they can learn more about the brewing process. For those interested in Alaska’s craft beverage scene, the Depot provides a convenient introduction to one of the state’s most recognized breweries.

They built permanent villages along the coast and rivers, thriving through fishing, trading, and a way of life deeply rooted in the region’s natural rhythms.
