Angerenstein Park, Arnhem

Angerenstein Park, Arnhem

Angerenstein Park is an old estate park with a long history. It features a restored country house, which has been occupied since the early 2000s, as well as other structures like the coach house. The park has been around for more than 250 years and has many old and impressive trees.

The park is divided into different sections, each serving a specific purpose. There's a large lawn area primarily for recreational activities, a recently updated courtyard that offers a quieter space, a small playground with a sandbox, several ponds, various buildings, a forested area on the park's northern side, an apiary with its surroundings, and a play pit on the site of the former skate hall on Bernhardlaan.

In the park, you'll find wide paths, scenic views, fountains, a waterfall, and decorative elements. Angerenstein Park is a central hub in the district and is one of Arnhem's most popular parks, catering to a range of activities like recreation, sports, games, dog walking, and occasional neighborhood events.

One standout feature is the newly redesigned courtyard, somewhat hidden but a valuable addition. The municipality carried out its reconstruction in 2020, taking inspiration from historical photos. Volunteers played a crucial role by providing garden soil and leaves. They also planted numerous plants, shrubs, and bulbs, enhancing the garden's visual appeal.

The garden is now a visually pleasing space, and visitors can enjoy its various colors from newly installed steel benches, designed to deter vandalism. The tranquil environment offers a peaceful escape, and proper maintenance is vital to ensure residents and visitors can continue to appreciate its beauty for years to come.
