Arlington Church of Christ, Arlington

Arlington Church of Christ is a Christian congregation established in 1940, rather than simply in the middle of the 20th century. Its members first met in rented premises before completing an initial chapel in 1942. A larger wing containing the main auditorium and classrooms was added in 1954, and the complex was renovated and expanded in 2015.

The congregation belongs to the Stone-Campbell Movement, emphasizing the authority of Scripture, congregational independence, baptism by immersion, and the example of the early Christian church. Worship includes prayers, Bible readings, preaching, weekly Communion, and congregational singing without musical instruments. The building contains a main auditorium, a chapel, classrooms, fellowship areas, offices, and spaces used for small groups and religious education. It is fully accessible, with barrier-free entrances and an elevator connecting the worship, classroom, fellowship, and balcony levels. Separate English- and Spanish-language services are held, while bilingual services take place several times during the year.

Bible classes are offered for adults, teenagers, and children, and small groups meet during the week. The congregation has supported other Churches of Christ in the United States and abroad and has maintained a Spanish-language ministry since 1988. Its community work has included assistance for homeless people through the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network and food support through the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Visitors may attend public worship services and Bible classes, but the site functions primarily as an active congregation rather than as an architectural or historical tourist attraction.
