Asiatique The Riverfront, Bangkok (must see)
Asiatique The Riverfront is a spacious open-air shopping complex situated in Bangkok, Thailand. It's located on the grounds that used to be the docks of the East Asiatic Company, overlooking the Chao Phraya River and Charoen Krung Road. This place underwent significant renovations and opened its doors to the public in 2012.
The mall is designed with a historical theme inspired by the era when King Chulalongkorn reigned (1868–1910). It operates primarily as an open-air night market, boasting a whopping 1,500 shops and stalls, along with 40 restaurants. Most of these dining spots are housed in repurposed warehouses. Among the historical features you can find here are an old sawmill and a World War II bomb shelter. Additionally, there's a tram in the parking lot that resembles the old tram system in Bangkok, and bronze statues representing maritime activities adorn the area.
The mall is divided into four distinct thematic sections, known as districts. The Chareonkrung District, named after Charoen Krung Road, offers venues for various performances such as the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre, the Calypso Cabaret show, and live Muay Thai performances. You can also find shops selling handicrafts and souvenirs here. The Town Square District is home to foreign restaurants and sports bars, and it includes a small event space. The Factory District offers trendy fashion, products, and restaurants. The Waterfront District features a 300-meter riverfront promenade with riverside restaurants, event spaces, and Bangkok's tallest Ferris wheel, the 60-meter Asiatique Sky.

Bangkok Old City Walk
The Thai capital, Bangkok, began life in the 15th century in the fertile delta of the Chao Phraya River as a modest trading post—hardly the megacity you see today. As for the name “Bangkok,” no one agrees on its origin. It may come from the Thai words “bang,” meaning a riverside village, and “ko,” meaning island, which is quite fitting for a place once threaded with canals. Or it... view more
