Bab Souk (Market Gate), Chefchaouen

Bab Souk, meaning “Market Gate,” is one of the historic entrances to the old medina of Chefchaouen, Morocco. The gate takes its name from the traditional market that once gathered nearby every Monday, earning it an alternative name associated with the Monday market. Known locally as Souk al-Ithnin, this weekly gathering brought together residents and merchants from Chefchaouen and the surrounding countryside, making the area an important centre of trade and social life.
