Bluemont Park, Arlington

Bluemont Park is a 51-acre public recreation area featuring sports facilities, playgrounds, picnic spaces, and natural areas beside Four Mile Run. Its multi-use paths suit walking, running, and cycling, while open lawns and wooded sections provide space for informal recreation and relaxation. The park also hosts community fitness events, including the Animal Welfare League of Arlington's annual Walk for the Animals.

The park contains baseball, softball, and soccer fields, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, a disc golf course, separate playgrounds for preschool and school-age children, picnic areas, a reservable shelter, restrooms, and vending machines. Paved paths follow the stream corridor and connect with the Four Mile Run Trail and the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail. The nearby Bluemont Junction Trail provides an onward route toward the Custis Trail, though it does not pass through the park. A major renovation of the upper tennis courts, restrooms, parking areas, and nearby trail sections began in early 2026 and is scheduled to continue through Fall 2027.

Natural areas along Four Mile Run add a quieter element to the park's athletic and family facilities. Visitors may walk beside the stream, use the regional trail network, play disc golf, attend field sports, or gather in the picnic areas. Mature vegetation provides habitat for local wildlife, although the park is managed primarily for recreation rather than as a dedicated nature reserve. During construction, nearby tennis courts, parking areas, and trail sections remain temporarily closed currently.
