Casa de Gobierno (Government House), Mendoza

Casa de Gobierno (State House of the Province of Mendoza) is an impressive 9-storey building in the Barrio Civico. It features four rationalist style square columns, as well as high and straight doors, and an imposing staircase, creating a rather ceremonial and official impression. The building was inaugurated in 1951 and declared Cultural Patrimony of the province in 1995. The main attraction of the Casa de Gobierno is the antique flag, embroidered by the nuns of the Mary Society in 1816 for the Army of the Andes during the liberation campaigns conducted by San Martin. This flag represents a very important part of Argentina's history.
