Chiang Mai Night Safari, Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai Night Safari, situated in the sub-district of Mae Hia in Chiang Mai, spans multiple districts, including Nong Khwai and Hang Dong. This esteemed zoo lies to the west of Royal Park Rajapruek and falls under the ownership of the Zoological Park Organization as a government property.
Its inauguration took place on the 18th of November 2005, and it was officially opened to the public on the 6th of February 2006. During its early days, the park was managed by the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration and the Pinkanakorn Development Agency (Public Organization).
Widely considered the first nocturnal zoo in Thailand and the world's largest, Chiang Mai Night Safari covers an expansive area of 819 Rai. Recently, they have modified their operating hours to accommodate visitors both during the day and at night.
One of the captivating features of Chiang Mai Night Safari is the opportunity for tourists to observe non-dangerous animals roaming freely in specific areas. Visitors can enjoy a close and intimate encounter with these creatures. As guests enter the premises and make their way to the main building, they will encounter wild deer and muntjac roaming around, a sight also visible in the north and south tour zones.
