Cinema "Aurora", Minsk

Cinema “Aurora” is one of the city’s most popular and long-standing entertainment venues, offering visitors a mix of nostalgia and modern cinematic comfort. Opened in 1987, it quickly became a favorite among locals for its spacious design and distinctive Soviet architecture. Despite the passage of time, the cinema has retained its charm while keeping up with technological innovations that enhance the movie-watching experience.

The cinema features three halls: the “Big” hall with 390 seats, the “Azure” hall with 252 seats, and a superior-comfort hall accommodating 116 visitors. Each hall provides a different viewing experience, allowing guests to choose between standard seating and more luxurious options. While the older halls preserve their original projection layout and somewhat compact seating, the superior hall offers notably more comfort, reflecting the gradual modernization of the building without losing its retro atmosphere.

Technically, Aurora has been upgraded several times, now boasting high-quality professional equipment from global manufacturers such as Electro-Voice and JBL acoustics, along with Dolby CP 500D and CP 650 processors. Together with advanced projection systems, these features ensure excellent image clarity and sound quality, making every screening immersive.

Adding to its appeal, Aurora also includes a small bar between floors where visitors can enjoy coffee, tea, soft drinks, and light snacks before or after a film. For many residents and travelers, the cinema represents more than just a place to watch movies—it’s a glimpse into Minsk’s cultural continuity, where Soviet-era design and modern film technology coexist in harmony.
