Convent of Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, Kazan

Consecrated on September 15, 1825, this church was built in honor of the Exaltation of the Cross, although all the icons were ready by 1823. Its history is linked with the founding of the highly-esteemed miracle icon of Our Lady of Kazan in Russia. Its massive colonnades, the mysterious twilight cathedral and the iconostasis in a form of a cross truly awaken the spirit.
