Copps Coliseum (TD Coliseum), Hamilton
TD Coliseum is a large indoor arena that opened in late 1985. Built by the City of Hamilton at a cost of about $33.5 million, it was later named for Victor K. Copps, a former mayor who supported the project. After a major renovation completed in 2025, the venue was rebranded as TD Coliseum and now holds around 18,000 people for concerts and about 17,383 for hockey.
Sport has long been part of its identity. For several years, it hosted the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League from 1996 to 2003. Plans to bring an NHL team here in the 1990s never materialized. The Bulldogs moved to Brantford during renovations, and in 2025–26 the Toronto Rock returned, bringing National Lacrosse League action back to the arena.
Music and large-scale events are central to its use. The arena reopened in November 2025 with a sold-out Paul McCartney concert. Thanks to flexible seating and wide concourses, it hosts basketball, figure skating, concerts, and other large events. Renovations improved seating, sound quality, and overall comfort for visitors.
