Crkva Sv. Barbara (Church of St. Barbara), Trogir
The Church of Saint Barbara in Trogir is a protected cultural property, built between the 9th and 11th centuries. This pre-Romanesque basilica, originally dedicated to Saint Martin, was later associated with St. Barbara after her church on the mainland was demolished.
The church is situated south of the main city square and features a square apse facing east. Its western facade includes shallow beds and is partly covered by a two-story bridge supported by an ancient column. The main portal incorporates elements from an ancient sarcophagus, including early Christian crosses, with a lintel decorated in wicker motifs.
An inscription below the wattle credits Prior Maius and his cousin Petar with the church's construction around the year 1000. The Church of St. Barbara is classified as "sacred architectural heritage."
