DNA Lounge, San Francisco

DNA Lounge, San Francisco

DNA Lounge is a nightclub and restaurant located in San Francisco's SoMa district. It is owned by Jamie Zawinski, a former Netscape programmer and open-source software hacker. This venue caters to all ages and offers a combination of entertainment options such as DJ dancing, live music performances, burlesque shows, conferences, private parties, and film premieres.

The establishment boasts an impressive setup with seven full bars, two stages, four dance floors, and a pizza restaurant and cafe that provides full-service dining. Since 2001, DNA Lounge has been live-streaming all of its events, including audio and video, at no cost to viewers.

The main room of DNA Lounge features a stage at one end and a bar at the other, with a spacious dance floor in between. Downstairs, benches and cocktail tables are positioned along the walls. Above this area, a balcony provides a vantage point overlooking the dance floor and stage from three sides.

On the second floor, behind the stage, there is a large lounge comprising two connected rooms. This lounge has its own dance floor and sound system, offering an additional space for patrons to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Adjacent to the club is a pizza restaurant, and on the upper floor is "Above DNA," a smaller live music venue with its own stage, two dance floors, and separate entrance. It connects to the main room's balcony and upstairs lounge. Sometimes, events happen simultaneously in both spaces. For bigger events, all four rooms can be connected to form a larger venue. Please note that the second floor is not wheelchair accessible due to the lack of an elevator.
