Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum, Ankara

The Erimtan Museum, officially known as the Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum, is a privately owned museum situated in the Altındağ district of Ankara. It was founded by the Cultural Heritage Collectors Association. Within the museum, you can find approximately 2,000 historical artifacts from the personal collection of Yüksel Erimtan, who also happens to be the founding president of the association.

The museum officially opened its doors on March 14, 2015, and it's conveniently located near the Ankara Castle. Notably, the Anatolian Civilizations Museum is situated to the west, and the Çengelhan Rahmi Koç Museum is to the south. The museum is under the supervision of the Directorate of the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.

The museum consists of three historic buildings, all of which were renovated based on a project designed by Ayşen Savaş, Can Aker, and Onur Yüncü. To maintain harmony with its historical surroundings, the exterior of the building was constructed using stone resembling castle walls, and it features narrow windows. Inside the museum, you'll find walls with Roman architectural elements, decorated with inscriptions reminiscent of that era. The exhibition area is designed as a single large hall. In addition to the halls displaying archaeological artifacts, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and various scientific, cultural, and artistic events.

The museum's collection spans a wide range of time, from three thousand years BC to the Byzantine period, with a primary focus on works from the Roman period. Notable items in the collection include jewelry like bottles, bowls, pots, jugs, glasses, bracelets, and rings, as well as gold, silver, and bronze coins. While in smaller quantities, there are also cuneiform tablets, seals, and Byzantine artifacts.
