FITO Museum, Saigon/HoChiMinh City

The Museum of Vietnamese Traditional Medicine is a remarkable journey from ancient medicines to the present-day. The museum is divided into five levels and has 18 exhibition rooms. Beautiful wood carvings depict types of traditional medicine, telling the story as you walk through the exhibits. Different regions are represented.

The story is told with the collection of artifacts and the rooms and furnishings. The architecture of the museum even helps tell the story. Exhibits cover important physicians in Vietnamese tradition spanning from the 13th to the 18th centuries. There are prehistoric instruments from the Stone and Bronze Ages and many displays of traditional medicines, herbs, and ingredients.

Besides a guided tour of the exhibits, the museum has a 15-minute documentary available in Vietnamese, English, German, French, or Russian. There's also a pharmacy and souvenir shop on site.
