Frunze Park, Sochi

Frunze Park, Sochi

Frunze Park is one of the oldest public parks in the area. It was founded in 1899, during the Tsarist period, as a seaside urban park meant for relaxed walks and fresh air. In the 1930s, the park was renamed after Bolshevik leader Mikhail Frunze, and later changes followed Soviet ideas of public recreation. Even so, the early structure of the park has remained visible.

Shaded paths run through tall trees and open lawns, with benches along the way for short rests. The park includes several notable features, such as the Summer Theater, which has long hosted performances and public events. A Roman-style fountain and a Moorish arbor add clear historical details, showing how different design styles appear together without making the space feel crowded or formal.

Today, Frunze Park is used mainly for everyday outdoor activities. People come here for quiet walks, light jogging, or short breaks during the day. Families often visit with children, while others prefer to sit and read or talk on the benches. The calm setting and well-kept paths make it a comfortable place to spend time, especially for visitors looking for a slower pace and a clear link to the area’s past.
