G. Tukay Tatar State Philharmonic, Kazan
The Tatar State Philharmonic Hall, founded in 1937, was named in honor of famous Tatar writer Gabdulla Tukay in 1946. Tatarsan’s main music center, nowadays it features an orchestra of folk instruments, opera and chamber music. Famous and respected performers such as Shakirov and Arslanov have graced its stage and since 1989 it has been one of the organizers of the international contest, Tatar Zhyry.
