Galeria Latina, Quito
Galeria Latina is a store in Quito that specializes in selling folk art and handicrafts made by local artisans from Latin America. The store was established in 1986 by a couple who shared a passion for art and started collecting folk art and handicrafts while travelling around Latin America more than 30 years ago.
Initially, the store was a small shop in Quito that sold the work of artists the couple had personally met in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, and other countries across South America. However, over time, the store has grown significantly, and its products are now offered throughout Latin America, including Panama, Mexico, The Galapagos Islands, and Quito.
In the early years, the focus of Galeria Latina was primarily on the Andean region due to the couple's fascination with textiles and the relationships they had built with local artists throughout their early travels. However, as the gallery grew, the couple ventured further to look for new artisans, which led them to Panama and Mexico.
Despite the growth and expansion of the store, the original goal of Galeria Latina remains the same: to offer artisan made, original designs of the highest quality. The store works with some of the most talented and skillful artisans from around Latin America, and each product reflects years of learning and dedication of each artisan who has developed their craft to the point where it is today.
Galeria Latina offers a huge collection of art and jewelry from Latin America, including objects that are hard to find anywhere else.
