It holds the distinction of being the city's most frequented park, drawing in more than two million visitors annually. With an extensive network of trails spanning 21 miles, it caters to a range of recreational pursuits, including summer running races, bike rides, and the Pro Cycling Challenge Prologue event.

The park's primary trail, known as the 1.5-mile Perkins Central Garden Trail, stands out for being paved and accessible for wheelchairs, traversing through the heart of the park's largest and most captivating red rock formations. The trail commences from the North Parking lot, which serves as the main parking area accessible from Juniper Way Loop.
