Garden of the Sun, Fresno

The Garden of The Sun, established by the University of California Cooperative Extension twenty-seven years ago, offers a horticultural experience in the heart of California's Central Valley. This one-acre garden serves as both a peaceful retreat and a practical learning environment. It showcases an array of plants, including fruit trees, berries, flowering perennials, herbs, and vegetables, all carefully chosen to thrive in the Central Valley's climate. Unlike extravagant tropical blooms or peculiar fruits, this garden focuses on practicality and sustainability, making it accessible for everyday gardeners.

While the Garden of The Sun provides a serene atmosphere for relaxation and enjoyment of its surroundings, its primary mission is education. In collaboration with the University of California Cooperative Extension, Fresno County, this garden serves as a hub for agricultural, natural, and human resource knowledge dissemination, ultimately aiming to enhance the lives of Californians.

To fulfill this mission, the Garden offers a range of classes conducted by the University of California Cooperative Extension experts and Master Gardeners, volunteers from the community who are passionate about sharing their expertise.
