Glavé Kocen Gallery, Richmond

The Glavé Kocen Gallery, established in 2007, and the Historic Fan District of Richmond, is a cultural venue in the region. This 3200 square foot facility was transformed from a former Pepsi bottling warehouse into a vibrant art gallery by founders BJ Kocen and Jennifer Glave, a dynamic husband-and-wife team. The gallery showcases a broad spectrum of contemporary art, highlighting emerging and established artists across the United States. Its design and ambiance reflect a transitional flair that attracts art lovers of various tastes.

In 2007, Jennifer and BJ launched the Glavé Kocen Gallery, which quickly became a cultural hub in Richmond. The gallery hosts 12-15 exhibitions annually, alongside numerous community and cultural events such as fundraisers, house concerts, gallery talks, and wellness activities like yoga and meditation. These events, coupled with the gallery’s warm, inclusive atmosphere, have made it a beloved gathering place in the community. The gallery’s success is also attributed to Jennifer’s exceptional ability to identify compelling contemporary works, which often leads to rapid sales of showcased pieces.

Expanding beyond the physical gallery space, Jennifer has also ventured into online exhibitions through Glavé Kocen Consulting, leveraging her three decades of experience to reach a broader audience. This venture continues to thrive, drawing in both new patrons and longtime supporters, and is expanding its offerings to include pop-up exhibits and personalized art sourcing for residential and commercial clients.
