Gorky Museum, Kazan

Opened in 1940, this literary museum is dedicated to the life of Maxim Gorky, including his creative and social practices, his period abroad and his friendship with Shalyapin. Rebuilt in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, it was the city’s first literary museum. Located in a two-story building, it contains many fascinating exhibits of photographs and various memorabilia.
