Green Theatre, Sochi

The Green Theatre is an open-air performance space located inside Riviera Park. It was founded in 1934 by local artists as an open-air cultural venue suited to the warm climate. Instead of a closed building, it was designed to fit into the park landscape. Trees and dense greenery surround the stage and seating, forming a natural backdrop that remains visible even during large events.

The theatre follows a classic amphitheater design. Seating rows rise gradually from the stage, making it easy to see performances from most places. The venue can hold around 1,200 to 1,500 spectators. The stage is wide and has no permanent roof, which makes it suitable for different performances.

The Green Theatre works mainly during the summer season. Its program includes pop concerts, classical music performances, children’s shows, and events linked to festivals or public holidays. Performances are often scheduled several times a week during busy months. When no events are planned, the area remains open as part of the park. Visitors can walk through the seating area, see the stage up close, and get a clear idea of how outdoor cultural spaces were created to work together with nature rather than being separated from it.
