Historic Cherry Hill House, Albany

Historic Cherry Hill House, Albany (must see)

The Historic Cherry Hill House was built in 1787 and designed in Georgian style. It is a timber frame structure dating to the late 18th century. In 1971 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, one of the first properties in the city to receive that designation. The House belonged to the Van Rensselaer-Rankin family, whose members were art collectors for 5 generations.

They now are sharing the family's treasures with the general public. The collections not only take you on a journey through America's past, but they also offer insight into its material culture, through personal belongings of the family. The collection contains antiques, textiles, photographs, letters, family heirlooms, period furniture, and many more items. There are around 20,000 objects and 30,000 manuscript documents, all related to the Van Rensselaer-Rankin family and their life, sharing with you three hundred years of American history.
