Inniskilling Monument, Castries
Erected at the eastern end of Fort Charlotte, the Inniskilling Monument was unveiled on August 31st, 1932, by Capt. C.H. Knox-Little, R.N., of the H.M.S. "DANAE." It commemorates the gallant capture of Morne Fortune on May 24th, 1796, by the 27th Foot Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. The monument pays homage to the 27th Foot Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, recognizing their bravery and heroism during the capture of Morne Fortune. This pivotal event in history is immortalized through the monument's presence.
Situated at the site known as White’s Redoubt, where Shipley’s battery was also constructed, the Inniskilling Monument occupies a strategic position overlooking the landscape.
