Kyriazis Medical Museum, Larnaca
The Kyriazis Medical Museum offers a captivating journey through the island’s healing traditions, from ancient antiquity to the modern age. Housed in a carefully restored 1927 neoclassical mansion, the museum preserves the legacy of generations of Cypriot physicians-from Apothecary Neoclis Kyriazis and Antonios Tsepis to Marios Kyriazis, whose 2011 donation opened this public treasure.
Inside, four small rooms and a sunny garden unfold an immersive narrative. You’ll encounter everything from stone medical instruments and stone “phallic items” used in antiquity, to Victorian-era EKG machines, surgical tables, an OB‑GYN bench once used by much of Larnaca, and even a replica of the Hippocratic Ladder. Walls lined with framed medical poems, Byzantine and Venetian charms, and ancient curses weave folklore with science, revealing how illness and healing shaped community life through the centuries.
More than a static collection, the museum also cultivates a space for dialogue and learning. It hosts public lectures, guided workshops, and health‑oriented gatherings in its healing‑herb garden, where lavender, sage, basil, and mint mingle in the Cypriot breeze. Amid its modest size, the museum’s charm lies in its intimacy and attention to detail-a quiet treasure for anyone intrigued by medical history, folklore, or the unexpected intersections of culture and science.

Larnaca Introduction Walking Tour
Larnaca is the third-largest city in Cyprus. It was once a city-kingdom known as Kitoin. Though Kition was established in the 13th century BCE, the Phoenicians rebuilt the area around 1000 BCE. Some of the remains from this time, like cyclopean walls and temples, can still be seen today.
