La Malmaison, Cannes

La Malmaison, Cannes (must see)

Built in 1863 as part of the Grand Hotel by architects Vianey and Blondel, this is the last remaining part of the original ensemble. In 1945 it hosted the first painting exhibition organized by Aimé Maeght, opened as an exhibition area in 1983 and was renovated in 1993. La Malmaison now hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, often displaying the works of Matisse, Ozenfant and Picasso. The museum's beautiful garden is often used for exhibitions and is a sight well worth seeing.
