Liebermann Pottery Gallery, Johannesburg

Liebermann Pottery Gallery, Johannesburg

Liebermann Pottery, a longstanding player in the pottery industry since 1952, engages in extensive activities including research, manufacturing, collection, and sales. Their expansive ceramic collection, occupying a sprawling two-acre space, encompasses a diverse range of items. These ceramics find their places on dusty shelves or are neatly stacked in labyrinthine rows, some even towering over a person's height.

The inventory is rich and varied, featuring garden pots of various designs and sizes, antique vases, large urns, koi ponds, terracotta pieces, one-of-a-kind handmade items, and affordable wholesale planters. All of these are set against the backdrop of an old red-brick gasworks facility that dates back to the 1930s. These once-industrial structures now stand abandoned, slowly succumbing to the passage of time, rusting and weathering away in the overgrown grass.

Inside the gallery, Liebermann Pottery offers a comprehensive assortment of products. This includes complete dinnerware sets, handcrafted tableware, porcelain collectibles, antiques, lampshades, vases, tiles, dolls, figurines, and an endless array of treasures awaiting discovery, negotiation, and acquisition.

Liebermann Pottery takes pride in its wide selection of bonsai pots and caters to studio potters by providing various clay types and clay tools, along with a firing service. Additionally, they offer a selection of Pottery Detective DVDs.

Within a decade, the population had grown to 100,000 inhabitants.
