Malacca River Walk, Melaka

The Malacca River Walk is open 24 hours a day and consists of pedestrian paths running along the banks of the Malacca River. The paths are lined with trees, potted plants, and other greenery, creating a lush setting in the center of the city.

The area continues to develop, with new spaces and facilities regularly added. Numerous cafés and shops line the route, allowing visitors to break up their walk by sampling local food or browsing for souvenirs.

Outdoor art can be seen throughout the walk. Colorful murals decorate many of the buildings on the west bank of the river. There are also plenty of places to stop and rest beneath plant-covered pergolas.

The Malacca River Walk provides convenient access to many of the city’s historical sites. It is also a pleasant choice for an evening stroll, as much of the route is well lit after dark.
