Modern Art Gallery “NT-Art”, Odessa
The NT-Art Gallery in Odessa opened on 20 December 2007, based on a private collection begun in 2006. Now comprising over 2,000 works—from paintings to installations—NT-Art showcases the creative breadth of Ukrainian art from the late twentieth century onward.
While NT-Art presents diverse Ukrainian regional schools, its central message lies in celebrating Odessa artists. The gallery foregrounds the city’s non-conformist and modern art movements spanning several generations.
A particular highlight of the gallery is its extensive collection of works by Yuriy Yegorov, a key figure in Odessa painting whose work links the late nineteenth-century Southern Russian School, the early twentieth-century Odessa avant-garde, the informal art movement of the 1950s to 1980s, and the trans-avant-garde of the late twentieth century. The gallery also supports emerging local artists, offering a platform for young talent despite the challenging domestic art market.
Beyond its role as an exhibition space, NT-Art functions as a cultural promoter: its mission is to elevate Odessa art within the broader Ukrainian context and take Ukrainian art into international arenas. From 2008 onwards, it has delivered major group shows, collaborations with museums and galleries, and presentations outside Odessa, including Kyiv and beyond.
Visitors to the gallery will encounter a rich panorama of modern Ukrainian art anchored in Odessa’s unique creative heritage.
