In recognition of its importance, the Junta de Galicia, through decree 11/1993 dated May 22, officially acknowledged the Museum of the Galician People as a "synthesizing center of museums and anthropological collections in Galicia." This designation highlighted the museum's role as a reference point and catalyst for the creation of similar institutions throughout the region. Furthermore, the museum was recognized as the spiritual and symbolic leader of the network of anthropological museums in Galicia.

The dedication and commitment of the Museum of the Galician People to preserving Galician culture and heritage were further acknowledged in 2008 when it was awarded the National Prize for Traditional and Grassroots Culture. This prestigious accolade, part of the National Prizes for Galician Culture, affirmed the museum's significant contributions to the promotion and understanding of Galician traditions and grassroots culture.

Through its exhibits, collections, and educational programs, the Museum of the Galician People provides visitors with a comprehensive view of Galician history, traditions, and way of life.
