Ogrod Japonski (Japanese Garden), Wroclaw

The Japanese Garden is the crown jewel of the area near Centennial Hall. It was established at the initiative of Count Fritz von Hochberg, a diplomat and orientalist, with the help of Japanese gardener Mankichi Arai, for the 1913 Centennial Exhibition. This garden blends several styles: public, water, tea ceremony, and pebble beach. Its design is as deliberate and harmonious as a samurai’s path.

One path follows the pond’s edge, leading from the gentle Onna-daki waterfall to the swift Otoko-daki cascade. The other trail, crossing the Taiko Bashi arched bridge, takes you to the Azumaya tea pavilion. Unusual plants, striking arrangements, and symbolic spatial designs make this Garden a true gem for botany and ichthyology lovers, especially for those fascinated by the orange koi carp basking in the afternoon sun. Along with the Botanical Garden, it’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates meticulously crafted garden layouts.
