PAVED Arts, Saskatoon

PAVED Arts, Saskatoon

PAVED Arts is a non-profit, artist-run center in Saskatoon's Riversdale neighborhood, dedicated to advancing creative practices in Photography, Audio, Video, Electronic, and Digital media-hence the name "PAVED." Since its formation in 2003 from the merger of The Photographers Gallery and Video Vérité, PAVED has become the city’s only dedicated new media access point, offering artists and independent producers the tools, space, and community support to create and exhibit their work.

In 2005, PAVED moved into 424 20th Street West, sharing space with AKA Gallery to form the 20 Above Arts Centre. Through its production facilities, exhibition programming, and outreach work, PAVED has helped democratize access to art-making while fostering critical dialogue across communities.

The organization’s initiatives have included youth programs where inner-city teens record original hip-hop tracks, as well as public art projects and exhibitions that tackle topics from social justice to Indigenous identity. Notable contributions include Upstream Saskatchewan, a digital archive of photo and video works, and commissions like Coincidence Engines and politically charged billboard installations. PAVED has also hosted impactful projects like 21, curated by Elwood Jimmy, and screenings such as Shooting Indians by Ali Kazimi-both giving voice to First Nations experiences.

Firmly rooted in the belief that art is a catalyst for engagement, PAVED Arts continues to be a vital force in Saskatoon and the wider Canadian arts scene.
